Background

Kellett School is a not-for-profit institution built on British values. It provides a high-quality education to the British expat community and beyond. Founded in 1976, it is the oldest British independent school in Hong Kong. Kellett now has close to 1,400 pupils from more than 40 nationalities.

In August 2026, the school opened a new Sixth Form Centre at The Bay Hub in Kowloon Bay. The centre is a dedicated facility for Year 12 and Year 13 students and is an extension of the Kowloon Bay campus.

Kellett School was rated an ‘outstanding school’ across every category in its most recent British School Overseas (BSO) inspection. The Education Development Trust carried out the inspection in 2023, and it is one of three inspectorates that the UK’s Department for Education has approved to conduct BSO inspections. The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) monitors the quality of these inspectorates’ work; it does not inspect individual schools like Kellett directly.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, although some grades may have extensive waiting lists. Kellett accepts Prep School applications from birth and Senior School applications up to two years in advance. Neither has a formal deadline.
