Roedean is a girls' school with a proud hundred-year-long history. Originally founded as a sister school to Roedean School in Brighton, today the school has hundreds of pupils from Grade 0 to Grade 12.

The beautiful campus has state-of-the-art sports facilities including a climbing wall, diving and water polo facilities, an indoor basketball court and an Astroturf field. The school also has a multimedia auditorium and well-equipped art, IT and media centres.

The school has a good reputation for academic, sporting and cultural achievement, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Like the nearby St John's and King Edward's boys' schools, Roedean is known for its water polo team.

What the school says

“At Roedean, we pride ourselves on the exceptional academic standard which is our hallmark. We have a dedicated staff of experienced teachers who are highly qualified specialists in their respective fields. They strive to help each girl to fulfil her potential both in and out of the classroom. We are exceptionally proud of the results which our pupils have achieved in the NSC examinations in the past and of the success of our past pupils at tertiary institutions, both in South Africa and abroad.”

The campus is set on beautiful grounds in the leafy suburb of Parktown, near the suburbs of Melville, Parkview and Houghton.

From the head teacher

"It is a great privilege to serve in a teaching and learning environment as dynamic and effective as Roedean School (SA). We are determined to create new horizons and exciting challenges for both girls and staff members which will equip them in the future to lead lives of significance."

– Mary Williams, Executive Headmistress
